Following Jesus. Teaching the Gospel.

An Uncertain Home

We are moving to Ooltewah. We have bought a new house (well older than our current house, but new to us) that is closer to school, closer to the office, and not much further from church. Best of all, it has a much easier drive to almost everywhere and more land. Before closing the transaction on Wednesday, we got a call saying there was a problem with the documents already signed by the seller. The transfer was supposed to include a tract of land that the title agency did not know about. It will take a week to fix it. The closing will have to be rescheduled. Later, we found a solution, and the closing was back on. Then delayed again. Then on again. Then delayed again. Then finally, closed and over (except for that one tract of land).

Jesus promised, “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:2-3). Are you confident of your obtaining possession of the home that God has prepared for you? Will that transaction close? Will you ever get there? Has someone made a mistake in giving you what you need to make it official? You better pay attention to keep it on track. “Work out your salvation with fear and trembling” (Philippians 2:12). But God wants you to feel confident. The apostle John wrote that “you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:13). I hope you get your house. If you are not feeling confident, I will be glad to try to help.
