The red line on the thermometer finally dips below 60. The haze in the distance is gone. The air is clear and crisp. The bugs are looking for warm places to escape, and will soon make their winter retreat. Red, orange, and yellow will soon explode onto the hillsides as the leaves react to the new season. You can layer garments without being hot. The warmth of the sun feels like a calm cocoon. We have no better time to be outside.
After Noah and his family left the ark and saw the devastation of the flood, God made them a promise. He said, “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease” (Genesis 8:22). The changing seasons are a blessing from God, the fulfillment of his promise. Let’s celebrate them together!
We have been waiting for this season since January, when we bought a new house. When we moved in April, we became even more excited about our church family sharing our blessings at our new home. This Saturday, we want everyone to come and enjoy warm food and beautiful weather. We have a pond and two horses, so wear shoes that don’t mind walking in a pasture with short grass. Also, please save parking spaces close to the house for those who don’t walk as well. Many people will need to park in a field behind our house, but it’s not far. Please bring chili, soup, hotdogs, desserts, or whatever else you want. We will provide the drinks, plates, napkins, etc. Most of all, please come!
