Following Jesus. Teaching the Gospel.

Creek Kids

Welcome to Creek Kids, the children’s ministry of Mountain Creek Church of Christ! Our group consists of children from birth to 5th grade. as well as their families. Our goal is to deepen our understanding of God’s word as we grow together in love and faith in Jesus. We hope that you will join us in our efforts to serve God and bring others to Him!

Meet Our Teachers!

At Mountain Creek, we take Bible teaching very seriously. This applies especially to our children. Our teachers work hard to lay a solid foundation on which our children can grow their faith. Take this opportunity to get to know the teachers who take on the enormous responsibility of teaching our young children the truth of God’s Word!

Mike Lucas – Creek Kids Director

Mike has served as the Creek Kids Director at Mountain Creek since 2015. He is also well known for his fun-loving VBS characters – Ranger Mike, Scuba Mike, and Jedi Mike, and is addressed as such by most children who attend VBS. Mike is also engaged in MCY and teaches the Middle School class on Sunday mornings. Mike and his wife, Erin, were married in 2006 and have two children, Mia and Evan, who keep the family busy with sports, theater, and piano. When Mike isn’t delivering packages from a brown truck, he enjoys watching the Fighting Irish, running, and spending time with his family. Gregarious and funny, Mike always keeps everyone laughing and enjoying life. His passion for teaching God’s Word to the children and youth motivates him daily, and he brings with him energy and a love for Christ.

Erin Lucas

Erin has been teaching Bible classes for all ages from birth to 5th grade for over 11 years at Mountain Creek. She is the wife of Mike Lucas, a deacon and Creek Kids Director, and assists her husband with programs such as Vacation Bible School and Lads to Leaders. She is the mom of two children, Mia and Evan, who keep her extremely busy with theater, piano and baseball. She is also the mom of 2 rabbits, 3 cats, a turtle, a German Shepherd and a pond of fish. Erin works outside the home as an accountant but also enjoys coaching cross country for her children’s elementary school as well as all things crafts! One of Erin’s passions is writing and she enjoys writing the puppet script for the Lads to the Leaders program and creating scenes and props for the production. Teaching children the Bible through mediums such as games, crafts, and puppets energizes Erin to continue to use creativity and the love of Scripture to help each child learn.

Lana Farmer

Amy Oswalt

Amy Oswalt is truly a professional when it comes to taking care of children. She left the corporate world 5 years ago to enjoy being a nanny to two beautiful children (and three cats). Amy is the daughter of a church elder and the wife to her husband, Shane, of 8 years. If she has any spare time, she enjoys making bath salts, soaps and fleece no-sew blankets. Although Amy was unable to have children of her own, she feels blessed to be able to snuggle and spoil everyone else’s babies. Amy’s ability to welcome each child into her classroom with warmth and love allows both parents and children to feel safe and comforted. Her favorite Bible verse comes from Psalms 127:3 “Children are a gift from God, they are His reward.”

Michelle Massey

Michelle has been a lifelong servant of the church and has been teaching children’s Bible classes since she was 16 years old.  She and her husband, Gary, who serves as the pulpit preacher at Mountain Creek, have 3 wonderful children: Lauren, Elizabeth and Mark. Michelle stays busy taking care of her family, farm, and home, but also enjoys reading, traveling, and entertaining guests with her delicious cooking and hospitality! Known for her compassion and love of children, one of Michelle’s favorite ways to teach is through songs and repetition. Children build a strong Biblical foundation in Michelle’s class learning Books of the Old and New Testaments, Bible verses, and people of the Bible. Michelle is passionate about helping children learn the Word of God and fully embodies the desire taught in Judges 2:10, as she never wants there to be a generation who does not know God.
