Why Does God Not Grant My Prayers That My Loved One Will Repent?

Why Does God Not Grant My Prayers That My Loved One Will Repent?

Question and AnswerI. Will you please preach a sermon on intercessory prayer and intervention for a brother who is falling away… example, a Christian adult son, who was raised in the church, baptized, but now he is an alcoholic and has many family problems. Prayers, fasting and all going up for this person but he hasn’t/won’t come back to Christ. It’s SO discouraging! Why isn’t God doing more divine intervention??? How do we keep our faith and not give up and quit questioning God for NOT doing more?
A. Intercessory prayer
1. Mt 7:7–8 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8“For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
2. Mt 21:22 “And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”
3. Jn 14:13 “Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
B. Limitation
1. 1 Jn 5:16 If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask and God will for him give life to those who commit sin not leading to death. There is a sin leading to death; I do not say that he should make request for this.
C. Free will
1. Jesus doesn’t break down the door
2. Re 3:20 ‘Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.
D. Conforming our will to God’s Will
1. Mt 10:37–39 “He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. 38“And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. 39“He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it.
